That's why I started experimenting and eventually came up with this recipe: a variant on the classic macaroni with ham and cheese that is not only different, but also super nutritious. This time, I added carrots to make the dish even healthier, while still keeping it cheap and easy to make. But you can also experiment with spinach or pumpkin. Enjoy your meal !
Healthy macaroni with ham and cheese

Ingredients:

400 gr Cooked ham

200 gr Grated cheese

1 l Milk

100 gr Flour

100 gr Butter

500 gr Carrots

500 gr Macaroni

1 pinch Salt

1 pinch Pepper
Instructions:
- Peel the carrots and cut them into smaller pieces.
- Steam the carrots until they are easily mashable with a fork. Set aside.
- Melt the butter in a pot and gradually add flour until you get a crumbly texture.
- Add milk and let cook while stirring until it thickens into a béchamel sauce (you can add more or less milk depending on whether you want a thicker or lighter sauce).
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove the sauce from the heat and add the cheese. Stir until you get a homogeneous sauce.
- Add the carrots to the cheese sauce and use a mixer to get a uniform orange sauce.
- Cook the macaroni pasta according to the instructions on the package.
- Mix the macaroni with the orange cheese sauce and the cooked ham.
- Optionally, you can pour everything into an oven dish and cover it with more grated cheese.
- Set the oven to grill mode until the top layer of cheese is nicely crispy.
- Optionally, garnish with pieces of carrot or spicy sauce.
